Shopping we go!

It's end of the year and all of us know it's SALES TIME!!

There are so many warehouse sales I'm telling you.. I've carefully selected the so-many out of the so-so-many warehouse sales that I want to go. I'm so excited! My mum is coming so we can go shop together! Wooppee!

Yesterday, I went to a branded fragrances sale during my (self-extended) lunch time at Armada hotel, queued up for 40 minutes and went into the hall which was so small and crowded only to disappoint myself. It was crowded by people queueing up to pay, I think they didn't expect such a big crowd, thus the chaos in the 'hall'. There was so much fragrances going around, that I can stand; what I can not stand is the unpleasant fragrances from people's mouth! PUKE! In the end I didn't buy anything coz I didn't feel well enough to queue up again, in the so-called hall. So I left empty handed..

Knowing how much I wanted to go to Nine West w/h sales, Yi-Shen agreed to take the LRT with me to Avenue K right after work. Verdict? Disappointing too.. mainly was because the choices of heels wasn't that great, and also because I have big feet and the sizes left were mostly 7 and below..

Though the place was not crowded at all, the staffs were like shit, yes you hear me right, s-h-i-t. I read from the shopper's comments about them already, and I would like to agree totally! My experience was when I went to the cashier and asked her how much was the keychain which had no price tag on it - she didn't look at me and shouted to her colleague asking the price. Then one sales girl walked towards me and I didn't expect her to be the one the cashier was shouting to coz she didn't look at me at all and certainly didn't look like she was going to answer me, what more serve me. Suddenly she said "twenty five", and I "huh?" coz wasn't sure that she is talking to me mah.. then she "twenty five" again. Madness, what kind of sales person are you all? Anyhow, there was a nicer guy working there lah.. The girls was like assholes though.

Well, I took a few pictures to let other shoppers who feels like going but also would like to have a rough idea on how the place is like see how does the place looks like lah..

Oats anyone?

Being fat, you'll have to make such big sacrifices.. It's depressing not being able to eat yummy food already, but also, I've been eating oats for breakfast, you've heard me right, O-A-T-S.. with very little low fat milk and no sugar no nothing.... It is not easy at all to go through that every morning I'm telling you.

Not easy.

Yi-Shen prepares the oats for me together with his, his is off course more than mine by, say, alot? I don't know why he stinges on the milk.. he says the oats absorbs them all, so it can't seem to be soupy. It is so tasteless and starchy and sticky and yucky and the best part is, it totally feels like what I would vommit out and now I'm swallowing them back in. Ok you get what I mean already..

So, I was reading nicolekiss's food blog and she wrote bout her diet plans and this particular post was about oats, it sure didn't look as horrifying as what I eat in the morning~ So I messaged Yi-
Shen.

Below was our conversation..

sheri: http://nicolekissdiet.blogspot.com/2007/10/oats-and-milk.html
sheri: why is her oats better and tastier looking?
sheri: not like ours.. so glue-ey
ys chung: whose oats?
sheri: the link
ys chung: well
ys chung: for one, her raisins looks like decapitated cockroaches <-- trying to make his oats feel better!
sheri: those are prunes
ys chung: she uses baby oats
ys chung: and then more milk
sheri: can we use baby oats?
sheri: at least they won't get stuck in your throat
sheri: can we use more milk?
sheri: at least it'll be a happier breakfast
sheri: since i can't have happy meals already
ys chung: we can go buy baby oats
ys chung: we can use more milk
sheri: we buy a smaller packet first
sheri: coz i'm afraid it'll taste like shit too
sheri: =D
ys chung: yeah
ys chung: shit is good for health
sheri: =*
ys chung: i will continue eating the proper oats
sheri: what do you mean proper
sheri: !!!!

Guess I won't get to eat the improper oats for now..

grey-ny

I would like to 记录下来 my current feelings towards my grey hairs. It sounds weird, I know. I don't understand why, tell me!

Since I was in Form 3, I started having grey hairs, but that was only one (lower right) part of my head, and they weren't obvious at all coz I'll have to part my hair and search for them only I'll see them. Anyway, I figured it must be that part of brain I'm using the most, so the greys started sprouting. I think there were maybe 4 - 5 one time, I remember plucking them and I kept them in a jar, eww! Of course as I grew older, a few greys came out here and there, which is understandable coz I am no longer in Form 3.

BUT!

Lately, the grey hair is getting totally uncontrollable! It started growing a lot on the back and both sides of my head, this time it is very visible, you do not have to part the hair and search for them because there they are, screaming at you, calling for attention! I couldn't tahan the sight of it at first, so I pluck, pluck, pluck! But they grew, grew, grew some more! What more, now they've managed to appear in my fringe and places where you won't miss! You know how they stand out like a sore thumb in these places? If anyone whispers dye your hair lah, I've done that ok? But that's only a temporary solution..

Why is this happening to me? Is it my diet, or what is it? I'm really frustrated coz I am not that old to have this much grey hair. Sad..

Go Green Gals and Guys!

Although i won't say that i really know a lot about saving mother nature, but i can say that i do try to do the least bit i can in going green. As you can see, i have a in my sidebar, i'm joining Jean to create awareness in GOING GREEN.

Below is some tips all quoted from her blog which some i did not know would help in saving the environment:

"Do you know that the world population is expanding at a mind-boggling rate? Yes, it is. It is estimated that the population will go up to 9 billions by 2050. That's mean if the world's natural resources were evenly distributed, our children or/ and grandchildren will only have 25% of the resources per capita that people in 1950 had.

If we intend to leave our children and grandchildren with the same standard of living we have enjoyed, we must preserve the foundation of that standard of living. We save for college educations, orthodontia, and weddings, but what about saving clean air, water, fuel sources and soil for future generations?"

-source taken from http://www.gogreeninitiative.org/content/WhyGoGreen/

We do not need be a soldier, aggresively marching down the battle field, to help our Mother Nature. Just be yourself and go green in your daily activities. Here are 10 ways how we can go green:

1. Crank the knob
According to the National Environment Agency in Singapore, air-conditioned buildings need only to set their thermostat between 23°C and 25°C. Anything lower is a waste as you simply won't feel a difference in temperature. For every degree you adjust, you spare the air 500 pounds of carbon dioxide.

2. Sweat the small stuff
According to http://ecofabulous.blogs.com, if every worker used one less staple, we'd save up to 330,000 tons of steel a day. That's some heavy metal! Switch to a staple-less stapler, available at stationery shops, which folds paper to bind it.

3. Clean green
Household cleaning products give off chemical emissions that aren't only harmful to the planet, but to you too. Swap yours for the eco-friendly and completely non-toxic Shaklee Get Clean products.

4. Age your driving style
Don't speed: going 90km/h instead of 110km/h slashes fuel consumption by up to 25 per cent. If your car is fitted with a cruise control option, use it when you're driving on teh highway to maintain a steady speed and save on fuel.

5. Eat closer to home
Transporting produce across oceans or by air is amajor contributor to pollution. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation reported in 2006 that 18 per cen of the world's greenhouse gas emissions were due to the international meat industry. Choose locally farmed produce and the demand for imported stuff will fall, along with CO2 levels.

6. Stash your trashRecycle
Yes, it's an obvious one and you would think that after hearing it so many times, we'd be non-stop recycling machines by now, but there are still so may of us who aren't doing it! We chuck 19,000 tons of waste everyday, enough to fill 36 Petronas Twin Towers in a year! About 95 per cent of the waste ends up in landfills, which we're quickly running out of, and who knows how much of it could have been recycled?

7. Be a cone head
The next time you feel like eating ice-cream, ask for a cone, not cup. That way, you can eat the whole 'packaging' and there's no paper cup or plastic spoon to toss out.

8. Say no to the machine
Don't ask for ATM receipts. If every one in the USA refused theirs, it would save a roll of paper more than two billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator 15 times. Malaysians would create a roll more than 330 million feet long, going round the equator two and a half times.

9. Think natural and cool
Using cold water to do the laundry saves 50 per cent more energy than using hot water. To dry, hang them out in the sun - the heat is a natural disinfectant - and you'll again be saving energy, as an automatic dryer uses an average of six per cent of the household electricity.

10. Make sure your fashion is green
We're not going to say stop dry cleaning your clothes, because that's just an impossible request. The next time you do, however, tell the cleaners to skip the plastic. Also, find a greener cleaner - Pressto dry cleaners use biodegradeable stain removers and detergents, and theor machines are eco-friendly too, designed by an in-house team of engineers and technicians. There are outlets in Sri Hartamas (opposite Cat's Whiskers boutique) and Bangsar (Jalan Maarof).

-taken from FEMALE magazine JUNE issue.
So what have i been doing that's green, you ask. Well for a start, i try to recycle as much paper as possible at work and at home - i use both sides of paper and often place papers that has been used both sides in our recycle box (i say often coz sometimes i'm lazy to walk to the box, so i just throw away the papers, sorry!); at home, we recycle newspapers, and we have another box for miscellanous paper items like envelopes, cardboards, magazines, etc.

Then, when i buy lunch back to office to eat, i bring my own container instead of using styrofoam. I force my colleague to do the same too, so now both of us hold a container and pack our food in them, which is good. I always skip those small small plastic bags they give when you buy drinks or sweets or whatever it is because those small bags are useless! You won't reuse them because the material is so thin and the size is too small anyway.. so i'm asking you to say no you don't need the bag too next time!

I still need to do a lot to really help in going green, so let's do as much as we can. It's easy!!

To China we go

Over the weekend, Yi-Shen, George (a uni friend) and I went to MATTA fair. We wanted to go to Bali, but throughout the whole fair, we realised that all travel agents are offering ground packages only; which means they do not include air tickets but only hotel and some local tours when you get there. They say it's because most people will buy Air Asia's promotional tickets themselves.

How disappointing! And I thought I didn't want to join my colleagues in buying the tickets for July next year coz MATTA fair might have good deals and which I won't have to wait so long to go! Sien... well they do have air tickets too, but it's RM700 over! It's so not worth it, so Yi-Shen got quite disappointed.

As you can see from my title today, yeah, in the end we bought a package to China.

How did we end up buying that? George lah! He likes China, he just got back from a trip to other provinces of China a month ago, and he wants to go again. So he chose this Spectacular Gourmet Tour to Macau/Zhuhai/Zhongshan/Shunde/Panyu/
Foshan/Guangzhou/Gongguan/Shenzhen, all in 6 days. It is considered a catch (at RM1200+) looking at the many places we'll be going, but in 6 days.. I think I can imagine the rushing part.

We're giving China a try since the only part of China I've been to years ago is Guangzhou, and I'm sure a lot have changed since then. And we get to go to Macau, and it's almost the same price as the packages to Bali. Guess I have enough reasons to convince myself again. Although if I wait for the next zero fare AA promotion I'll only be paying 288 per person for the tickets, and say 250 for 4 nights stay in the hotel, and 200 for food, another 200 for transport.. which in total cost less than 1000. hmm...

Well, money have been paid, there's no room for regrets now, although, I'm not saying that I regret or anything.. So China, here we come!

warehouse sales

I guess those who know me enough will know that I LOVE warehouse sales, in other words, I'm a sucker for it.

I would wake up early in the morning, queue a long queue, pack and push with the other crazy shoppers, just for these sales.

The most extreme one that I did was the Estee Lauder warehouse sale - Ching and I woke up at 6 in the morning, Yi-Shen fetched us to Renaissance KL, the queue was already crazy. You can guess how packed that hall was lah, I don't really mind the pushing and stepping on my toes; I'm disgusted that some people don't smell too good.. maybe it's too early and they didn't bathe before going.. You know, I'm taller than most average Malaysian girls, guys too.. so I can totally smell their heads man! *vommit*

Anyway, the thing is after we came out of war, with purchases for sure, I had to rush to work! Hahah! Was slightly wee bit late lah.. Yi-Shen waited for us all time, very good horr? Gong, if you are reading, must continue love me and bring me to all the sales yah? If can, next time I don't want to go to w/h sales anymore, I want to shop luxury-ly.

So you can see how much I can sacrifice for w/h sales now.

When I first knew about w/h sales and went to them, I wasted quite a lot of money buying things that I do not use in the end. Now, I try to buy what I really need. It's difficult lah.

This weekend, there are so many warehouse sales going on that I do not know which to go first. There's the great MATTA fair, there's Diethelm w/h sales,Hush Puppies w/h sales, Padini w/h sales, an offline e-shop sale.. which should I miss?!

Sales oh sales, here I come!

My current goal

I want to do business!

I once asked Yi-Shen, "do you think I can sell clothes at Pasar Malam?" his response was so big and negative coz he is so very sure that I will not be able to take it coz I am so 小姐. Who says I am 小姐? Shut up! I may be one last time, but I'm no longer too 小姐 now.. well.. maybe only at certain situations, or with certain people, or under certain conditions of the weather.. And.. oh crap!

But if I don't try, how will I know whether I can or I can't? Maybe not Pasar Malams, maybe weekend flea markets. I am sure I can!

Lately....

(after writing this entry half way, I saved it and wanted to continue when I had the time; and now it's already 1 month later..)

Ok... Lately, there are so many e-shops online, selling all sorts of things. Clothes, bags, accessories, second hand items, you name it, you've got it. We've been buying from them and going to their off line sales, we love it! So I figured this is my opportunity! But knowing me, I'm not the type of person that loves risks, I'm afraid that there'll be not enough time for me to manage my e-shop, what if there's no customers, what if this, what if that..

I have so many worries and concern before even starting – which is negative thinking – which is wrong! I have to kick start my plan if not I will never know whether or not it will work for me! So now I'm starting my plan one step at a time, with Chyi's help I hope our very own e-shop will be open for business SOON!

Wait for my good news~

work sucks

At least for now!

Well.. I didn't win the Nuffnang game, but it's ok.. I'm sure the dinner wasn't that great *sourgrapes* Hehe.. I'll try their other contests, keep trying and trying and I'll surely win one day!

I've been feeling rather lost and depressed lately.. lost the directions of my life, depressed for feeling lost. I no longer feel motivated to work already. Over and over again, the company has made empty promises to us. They said we should wait till June when we did not receive any yearly bonus or increment beginning of this year. They said they're working on some incentive plan for us after that. Now come July, what other excuses will they give?

I see more and more colleagues leave the company. Many people ask why don't we leave too? What's there to hold on to when a company doesn't appreciate their staffs? I do not have an answer to them. Maybe deep down I do believe what the company promise, maybe I do feel that there's a future here, or maybe I am waiting to see them give us something in return of expecting us to be 110% committed to our company!

We are always told to not calculate with the company and that staying back as often as possible shows that you are very committed. I don't think so! I do not stay back do not mean that I am not committed to my job. They who stay back every day may mean they are either one: overload or two: not productive.

Ha Ha!

Sien.. I know, if you expect a higher pay, then you should expect to work even more, your work responsibility will be higher. But this is my blog, so I should be able to say what I think. It should be ok that I say I expect lots of money and I don't want to work extra hard! I want to be rich when I wake up in the morning and go shopping, go spa, go manicure, go learn what I am interested in. and most importantly, NOT GO TO WORK!

Although, this is reality, and reality means you gotta work to get paid. You gotta get paid to go shopping. And when you work, you might feel it's a waste of money to go for spas and manicures, so you do them yourselves. And because you earn peanuts, DIY manicures are what you can only afford! And when you do everything yourself, you won't have time to do other things that you are interested in, like blog. So when you don't have the time to blog, you miss the opportunity to earn extra cash from what your blog can actually do for you! Example Nuffnang. So all of these actually go round and round, it's a cycle! So at the end of the day, the chances of being rich (aside from getting promoted and getting your yearly increment, which let's not talk about again) is so darn difficult!

Damn, you tell me how not to feel la being in my shoes now!

I'm so tired now, and I'm in Yi-Shen's office helping him coz his company has some exhibition to participate in tomorrow.. 赚钱难啊!

My second trip to Bangkok

My recent trip to Bangkok was quite good. I did feel the loneliness when Carrot, Chuah and me first arrived the airport – they were two love birds and I’m all alone! Without Yi-Shen who was supposed to go with me... but only remembered that he has more important work commitments!

Our flight to Bangkok was delayed and we arrived at almost 3am Thai time, which is our 4am. The rest of the gang took an earlier flight. We took a taxi for 500B to the hotel I found online – Take A Nap. The pictures on their website looked good, and the rooms were quite cheap, so we thought why not. I booked their 7 pax dorm, intended for 4 of us lah. Manatau, when we arrived the room, Devon wasn't in the room!

After many calls, we found out that she checked into a double room. Went to look for her and after discussing, we decided that since it is already 4am, we will all pack in that room for the night and see how things go the next day. I slept on the floor, the comforter was my bed.

The next day, Dex convinced us to move to the normal hotel that he always stays coz apparently, e-ve-ry-thing is within reach there. A double room costs 1700B... sure la... (Dex is rich mah)..

The Palazzo's lobby

We had a look at the rooms at The Palazzo and found that the room is quite big, and most importantly, the bed is even bigger than a king sized bed. So we didn’t have to order an extra bed – save 500B per night.

But of course, when four adults sleep on one bed, don’t expect much room to turn here and there la! In fact, you can’t turn around lor.. but for all 4 nights there, we had no trouble sleeping as everyone is drop dead tired after all the shopping aka walking.

There's free breakfast for 2 every morning too, I went for it once only.. Sleep is much more important to me!

There's a 7 Eleven right opposite the hotel too, and they sell nice food like sandwiches, dim sum & sausages that you can grab for a quick bite

First Day
We went to Platinum Mall, which I didn't know about the last time I went with mum and Li. This is an air-conditioned shopping mall that sells wholesale fashion items. There are so many shops, but not too many till you can't finish shopping la.. It is very much more comfortable to shop here as it's not as packed and humid and can't-breathe as Chatuchak.

Here at Platinum Mall, you must at least buy 3 items from a shop then only you get wholesale price. If not, they will tell you a 1-piece price, which is always not (so) worth it.

First day 收获, not too much things bought

When you're at Bangkok, a 300B top is considered expensive! As things are already quite cheap, you don't have to haggle much here coz it is more or less like you are wasting time to shop for more things. Plus they very seldom will lower the price more here; at least that's what I think.

One of my favourite Thai dish - Pad Thai. I always add alot lime juice, chilli powder and vege!

and of course Tom Yam!!!

We had lunch at Carrefour's food court and dinner at Platinum's food court. I like their coconut shake!

By the way, Robinsons, Carrefour, Tesco are all bear our hotel. By near I mean at least 15 minutes walk to the nearest which is Carrefour. You can't walk to Tesco I think... never tried and didn't want to!

There's a midnight market nearby too in an area called Huay Kwang, also where the MRT station is. This midnight market is supposed to be for those who work at night. Like pole dancers, they finish work late mah, so all normal shops are closed by the time they finish work. We went to a salon at 12 midnight on our last night at Bangkok. I washed and curled my hair, the rest did mani and pedi. The shop closes at 5am.

Thai people are so lucky, they can get their nails drawn so nicely and it costs around 200B only!

We went to the famous Suan Lum night bazaar – total disappointment. Nothing much there lorr.. they have a very big area for food and there was a live band. We ate a little and walked around their shops a little and went back.

I think Dex did mention that booze are cheap there, maybe that's why it’s famous, I don’t know.

Second Day
Chatuchak weekend market

I insisted in bringing my luggage bag with rollers with me coz I know I won't regret doing so! Indeed it was a very wise choice. You buy so many things and have to carry them all + walk so much. I've experienced it the last time and I've learnt my lesson.

I finally tried their noodles in pink soup – called yen ta foo if I remember correctly. Taste normal nia..

Thai Jack Sparrow, which i think did a good job imitating

Yummy Ovaltine drink - sold at only 10bht!

I didn't buy much at Chatuchak this time, don't know why. I actually didn't buy any clothing for myself here.. so disappointing.. Bought things like clutches, belts, floor mats, and colourful weaved baskets.

Some random photos we took on their MRT

See me in the picture?

Huai Khwang is the station near our hotel

We had dinner at Som Bon, a restaurant filled with Japanese. Apparently Japan's PM likes the restaurant and they had pictures of him visiting the restaurant. I won't show the pictures of food we had there, coz there's nothing to shout about really.

After a whole day of walking, this is the DIY foot spa I had in the room - apply Counter Pain on your legs, put your legs up for at least 10 minutes

Third Day
MBK area

Bought 2 pairs of jeans and guess what? They are skinny jeans! Hehe... surprisingly they look good la okay? After MBK we went to Siam Paragon which was totally boring! Things are so expensive there. Bought a Wacoal bra though.. won't tell you the size but Yi-Shen said my boobs aren't that big and the bra don’t fit. What does he know about bras? Hergh! Like very expert lidat...

At night, Devon and me followed Dex to experience Thai Clubbing. We sat at their open aired area coz they wanted to smoke, the place was so normal that our friend fell asleep for so long!! Haha!

Entrance to the club, very tight security. They actually checked on everyone's identification (for us it's our passport) upon entering. And I got the security to smile for me to take his picture, but it's too blurred to show you guys here.

Fourth Day
Pratunam, Platinum Mall again, and Carrefour

Pratunam is opposite Platinum but it has no air-cond. Things here is super-duper cheap! But all cannot try yeah.

We left Pratunam very fast and went to Platinum coz Dex gets impatient very fast so most of the time he goes back first. Or go to more expensive places =D

Dinner at Oishi was so normal. Jap food in Thailand, what do you expect?

Last Day
Before leaving for the airport, we had time to go to Robinsons for lunch and last minute shopping. Lunch at Yum Suup – food was served very fast and taste good too.

We actually planned to go to The Grand Palace geh.. but no one managed to wake up this morning coz we slept at 4 something the night before.

Bangkok Airport

My luggage weighed an extra kilo but luckily I wasn't fined.

So overall, I enjoyed my trip. It would be even more enjoyable if YS, my mum or my sis went together.

Felt that I didn’t buy that many things after unpacking. =D but I spent all my money brought there!

Fishing My Way To Made Of Honour

I will win invitations to Hong Leong Online in collaboration with Buena Vista Columbia Tristar's exquisite 8 course dinner at JW Marriott KL and the movie premiere of Made of Honour right after the dinner!! You know why? Coz it will be my birthday present from Yi-Shen!

Heheh, to be precise, Nuffnang sent me the update on their events and this time around, we Nuffnangers have to play this game and get the highest scored we can possible, and win invitations to the event. SO, I requested for my birthday present lah..

After sending my request for quite some time, I didn't see anyone in the house playing any fishing game, so I started to hint.. and the hints became very obvious and eventually.. there was some not-so-good chi mingling around the house. *sulk*

Then, last night, I was surprised with the screen shot on my PC desktop! Hehee... I know this sounds lame.. but Yi-Shen did play the game but he didn't want to tell me about it.. Haiyah! waste my energy stomping my legs!

Although the total catch isn't an A+, I'm still happy and we'll see if we win the invitations lah! * cross fingers *

My Malaysian Dreamgirl Blog Entry

My bulu all stood up when Sazzy announced that Jay was out! Of course lah, she’s our university friend, so sure we want her to win this thing.. Fortunately, when Sazzy said she wanted to talk to Jay, I knew there must be something.

Ever since the beginning, I didn’t like Cindy! I’m damn scared that she will win this contest ‘coz I’ve checked out her blog and it is obvious that her dad super super loves her! I think she is very spoilt at home wan… she said that her dad loves her more than he loves her mum leh! Lately, Cindy seems to be less ostentatious and it seems the other girls can get along with her already. But I still don’t think she should win this ‘coz if she does, you can imagine how action she will be and more girls will hate her! Hahah!

Pity Ringo when it was her turn to talk about her experience at MalaysianDreamgirl and the Breakfast Show had to go to commercial! The other girls talked too much..

I do think Ringo is cute, but not too suitable for the modeling world. Her face is cute, but nothing else. As for the other contestants:

Hanis – she’s sweet and it’s nice listening to her talk, she’s got the height, but the lower part of her face is rather broad right?

Nadia – wah, she REALLY wants to win this man! She wants it so bad that I think she’ll cry till she goes blind if she gets eliminated!

Adeline – if she wins, she’ll be so like Amber Chia (if she does become oh-so-famous lah) - sampat, speaks broken English, and weird… I totally can’t forget the scene when she said “I like to eat SUSI” (meant to be sushi) in the audition! Waahahaha!

Ok, I have to stop criticizing!

Well, the only one that I feel should win is of course Jay, and it is not only because I know her, but seriously, look at her hot bod and face!

So check out MalaysianDreamgirl’s website and vote for JAY!
